April Kayganich

Born in LA, but raised in a suburb of Detroit, April began calling Austin home in 2008.  Her background is in Fine Arts and Graphic Design, but she knew that becoming a hair stylist was what she was really passionate about.

At an early age, she began experimenting with her own hair since she knew that it was different from all of her friends.  She was scared to get her hair cut in a salon, so she started cutting and coloring her own hair.  Her friends were impressed with what she was doing to herself, so they let her work on their hair too!  It took April until the age of 26 to get to Cosmetology school and she graduated from Avenue Five Institute.

During that time she discovered that she had a natural understanding of different textures, color theory, translating shapes into haircuts and creating looks that work best for someone's hair type.

April considers herself a Texture Specialist, meaning she can work on hair that is very straight to extremely curly, and particularly loves Balayage, Color Corrections and creating new shapes for anyone that sits in her chair.  One of her clients even coined her, "The Curl Whisperer."
